Turn Oral-Health Knowledge Into Engaging Content
Project OpenWide’s Weekly Bites are short, educational social-media posts designed to make oral-health information easier to understand, remember, and share. Each Weekly Bite focuses on one helpful fact, question, misconception, or healthy habit related to dental care.

Volunteers help research and create content that may cover topics such as brushing, flossing, cavities, gum health, braces, retainers, nutrition, dental visits, and the connection between oral health and overall health. Posts should be accurate, visually engaging, and written in language that is understandable to students and community members of different ages.

This is a remote volunteer opportunity for individuals who want to support oral-health education through creativity. Volunteers do not need to live near Project OpenWide or attend an in-person event to participate.
How Weekly Bites Work
Weekly Bites are shared through two alternating series:
01
Trivia Tuesday
Trivia Tuesday invites followers to test their oral-health knowledge by answering a question in the comments. The correct answer and a brief explanation may be shared afterward to help followers learn something new.
02
Fun Fact Friday
Fun Fact Friday introduces an interesting or useful oral-health fact. These posts are designed to teach followers information that they can apply to their own daily routines or share with others.

Trivia Tuesday is posted every other Tuesday, while Fun Fact Friday is posted every other Friday. The two series alternate so that Project OpenWide can provide consistent educational content without overwhelming our audience.
This schedule also gives volunteers enough time to research their topics, verify the information, create a thoughtful design, and submit their work for review before it is published

Who Can Participate?
Volunteer Credit
This opportunity is open to students and volunteers who are interested in oral health, dentistry, public health, education, writing, graphic design, or social-media outreach.

Prior dental experience is not required. Volunteers should be willing to research their topic carefully, follow Project OpenWide’s guidelines, and make requested revisions when necessary.
Volunteers may receive one hour of volunteer service credit for each approved Weekly Bite they complete.

Volunteer credit is provided only for original work that follows the instructions, includes reliable information, and is approved by the Project OpenWide team. Incomplete, inaccurate, copied, or unapproved submissions may not qualify for service hours.

Volunteers should record their work through the required submission or volunteer-hours form. Additional instructions will be provided after acceptance.
